Parasail Quick Link

PQL-300x143With all the new studies coming out from agencies like the NTSB, the faithful bowline knot is not as reliable as the industry understood. All new results are showing a high strength loss with age of the towline, we as an industry are being encouraged by the towline companies and agencies to go to a spliced eye in the line to connect a parasail, but this would make it difficult when changing the parasail from size to size.

So we have been working with the towline companies to develop the Parasail Quick Link (also known as the Parasail Soft Shackle), this is custom built for parasailing with Polyester fibers. The quick link allow easy connection between the parasail and towline, this turns out be quicker than tying a bowline knot. With testing the quick link it has shown to have lower strength loss over use.

A quick link can be used for up to 500 fight rotations, currently we have two strength available:

White Quick Link to be used with parasail sizes 33′ to 42′, tested breaking load 4900 lbs. (+/- 250 lbs.). This equivalent strength of a bowline tied in a towline of 7000 lbs. in strength.

PQL-BK-300x247Black Quick Link to be used with parasail sizes 21′ to 32′, tested breaking load 3800 lbs. (+/- 250 lbs.). This equivalent strength of a bowline tied in a towline of 5000 lbs. in strength.

Recommended to be used with single braid polyester towline (rated 6500 lbs.), contact us for information and watch the video in the gallery.

OP Lower Winch Post 4-Way Roller

Lower rollerDue to the aggressive nature of the knot stopper/knot breaker of an Ocean Pro on the towline, we have developed a lower roller unit to replace it. This increases the towlines operational life by lowering the wear on the towline, this can increases it up to 6 months of operational life.

The 4-way roller is design to fit old and new style OP winch posts, it first requires the removal of the old knot stopper and cleaning up of the end of the post. I can be fitted quite easily in 3 -4 hours and because the towline is only coming in contact with moving rollers it will decrease the towline wear massively and cutting down the potential of a towline failure. Some operators have even stopped needing to use coated towline and if need it will still work as a knot stopper.

Parasail Towline

There is many types of towline that we have available for parasailing, the type for you will depend on a few factors. The type of parasail operation, the vessel type, the local conditions and the captain or operator preference.

Brach take off lineRecreational, Beach & Platform

For beach take-off  parasailing we use a 1/2” 3-strand twisted polypropylene, this is a floating rope and is rated to 3000 lbs breaking strain which is sufficient for beach and platform parasailing. Can not be used on any type of  winch system.  this is available in 300 ft and 600 ft lengths.

Commercial winch boat parasailing

For winch boats we have a few different types of towline for different vessels. There is 3/8 ths & 7/16 ths  double braided polyester, 12 strand polyester and 5/16 ths 12 strand Spectra, for high wear system there is urethane coated line and uncoated line for low wear systems.

Uncoated double braidUncoated Double braid

This line is for boats with low wear systems, such as Premiums, Centurion Flight 33’s/30’s and boats fitted with the Custom Chutes winch system.

The towline is available in 3/8 ths and 7/16 ths, 3/8 ths has a breaking strain of 4800 lbs and 7/16 ths has a breaking strain of 6500 lbs.

Available lengths:

3/8 ths  –  600 ft, 800 ft, 1200 ft

7/16 ths – 600 ft, 1000 ft

Coated double braidCoated Double braid

This line is for boats with high wear systems, such as CWS Ocean pros, Aerial pros & Nordics and Paracrafts and any system with no levelwinder bar. The line is coated with clear urethane protective coating to reduce wear to the line, the fleck color varies from batch to batch.

The towline is available in 3/8 ths and 7/16 ths, 3/8 ths has a breaking strain of 4800 lbs and 7/16 ths has a breaking strain of 6500 lbs.

Available lengths:

3/8 ths  –  600 ft, 800 ft, 1000 ft, 1200 ft

7/16 ths – 600 ft, 800 ft, 1000 ft

Coated polyester 12 strandCoated Polyester 12 strand

This line is for boats with high wear systems, such as CWS Ocean pros, Aerial pros & Nordics and Paracrafts and any system with no levelwinder bar. The line is coated with clear urethane protective coating to reduce wear to the line, it has no fleck color and no core.

The towline is available in 3/8 ths and 7/16 ths, 3/8 ths has a breaking strain of 8000 lbs and 7/16 ths has a breaking strain of 10,500 lbs.

Available lengths:

3/8 ths  –  600 ft, 800 ft, 1000 ft, 1200 ft

7/16 ths – 600 ft, 800 ft, 1000 ft

Coated 12 strand SpectraCoated 12 strand Spectra

This line is for boats with small capacity drums, such as CWS Nordics and Paracrafts with Pullmasters. The line is coated with clear urethane protective coating to reduce wear to the line, it has no fleck color and no core.

The towline is available in 5/16 ths, 5/16 ths has a breaking strain of 10,000 lbs.

Spectra has a low stretch rate, this makes it not suitable for rough ocean conditions

Available lengths:

5/16 ths  –  800 ft, 1000 ft, 1200 ft

Other lengths available on special order.
